Alright so instead of going with a traditional gun approach why not bring back guns similar to eridium guns from bl1
These weapons would consume no ammo, only have their manufacturer barrel, but could have mixed grips stocks and sights. When you hold the fire button, a blue orb would appear in front of the gun. Getting hit by bullets would deal about 60% damage, while also filling up the ammo bar/charge meter, which could have a max amount of charge/shots. The type of bullets absorbed would charge different amounts, with rockets giving the most charge an smgs giving the least. When released the collected rounds would be released as energy blasts based on the weapons type, emptying the charge bar. For example
pistol:fires high damage, medium speed blasts, low absorb capacity
Shotgun:fires 10-15 shotgun bursts, medium absorb capacity
Sniper:Fires high powered laser that gains crit bonus the more the meter is filled up, relatively high absorb capacity
Rocket:Fires glob of explosive energy matching gun element at high speed, requires high amount of absorb.
While these guns would not reload, they would instead have a cool down, where parts of the gun open up to release heat. due to not having reloads, certain accessories would have modified effects.
Reload speed:Shortens cool down
Mag size:Increases max absorb capacity
Appearance: Polished white, futuristic appearance, but unlike Maliwan, having a very angular design with prongs to focus the energy field that absorbs the bullets.
Additional shields and grenades: would be very different than the guns, having special effects of their own
Grenade-would create a bubble around it that restores ammo of players inside of it
Shield-Would be low capacity, but increases movement speed and deflects bullets
