TexMod DDS artifacts

So, im trying to edit map pics (i.e. minimap) to add some info on them, and i use DDS file format, because Map files use Alpha channel for transparency. I've tried to use PNG, but that leads to outline of the map to be black.

Now, ive ripped all the map files and started editing, when i noticed that for some weird reason textures ripped with a TexMod has more compresion artifacts than the ones in game, while they are not noticable on minimap, on an actual map they make an impression of a JPEG artifacts. PNG's extracted with a TexMod do not have them (but they neither have an AlphaChannel).

So how do i grab theese files without loosing their quality while retaining their transparency?

Or maby i should simply not be bothered and do the edits i want, disregarding output quality?
