A DLC like this probably won't ever come to light or maybe its not even possible, but I just thought I'd put my ideas here. I love horror themed games, such as Silent Hill, and a concept like this to come to Pandora would just make this game perfect for me (I appreciate Borderlands 1 and 2 for what they are, but I would really like to see a depressing change of atmosphere).
The Story:
--------------------
You see a strange "?" marked on your fast travel (marked somewhere randomly in the ocean). As you spawn into this strange location, things seem a little off...
The Environment:
--------------------
The places you travel to will be that from the base game; the twist here is that the maps are mirrored, the sky is red, and environments itself are in desaturation with a hint of color. Any regions that contain lava or water will retain the original color, but the lava/water areas are frozen in time, like ice, and you can walk on it. The treasure and ammo boxes still retain color, as well.
Example:
Maps I'd like to see included:
-- Sanctuary
-- Caustic Caverns
-- The Dust
-- Lynchwood
-- The Highlands
Enemies:
--------------------
All enemies are mainly the guardians/wraiths from the first game, with some bandits mixed in. However, they have a black tint over the normal colors, and they speak in reverse with a lower pitch. The eyes are pure white, with a little aura around them. Here's an example as to what they could look like:
![]()
(The environment isn't edited to give better contrast in how the enemies would stand out, but you get the idea.)
Characters:
--------------------
Playable characters and the UI still retains color (as well as the guns and particle/elemental effects of course), but playable characters are completely silent. No grunting noises, no comments, nothing.
Sounds:
--------------------
From time to time, you will hear muffled screams, evil low pitch laughter, or low sobbing. This doesn't happen too often to be annoying, just enough to fill the atmosphere.
Music:
--------------------
Low tempo music that gives off a feeling of anxiety would be perfect here. If you guys have any examples, I would love to see them.
Main Quests:
--------------------
Throughout the nightmare, you will encounter a child with the same black tint color as enemies with the same eyes. The child will have strange requests, but at least you will be able to understand him. I would really love to see quests that involve puzzles, Silent Hill style.
Side Quests:
--------------------
To be honest, I really can't think of any good side quests that would fit here. Maybe some side quests could include the trademark Borderlands humor that we all love to break up the grimness of the world, but I'm not really sure how it would work at all.
Memories:
--------------------
Throughout the nightmare, you will encounter video echo popups (like how Angel is in the base game) of certain events and cutscenes that you witnessed during your time while playing Borderlands 2. The video echo popups are played in reverse, with creepy video feedback and no sound. 2-4 times the speed, as well.
Co-op:
--------------------
To make the experience more immersive, I think it would be best if you were forced to play solo while playing this DLC. This probably wouldn't be possible in the least, but I think it would be the best option for the best experience.
Raid Boss:
--------------------
The boss ('Reflection' would be a good boss name IMO) is a gigantic mirror image of the character you are currently playing as (I'm thinking the same size as a drifter). As you damage it, the boss becomes smaller and smaller until it is defeated.
After it is defeated, it'll transform into an entity resembling the child that gave you the main quests for this DLC. The entity will let out a sigh of relief, and then transform into a pure sphere of light. The raid boss won't drop any items, but the sphere will act as a teleporter to a gigantic room that looks like it belongs to a child (it'll be so gigantic, that you'll feel like an ant).
From there, Spoiler: The Destroyer (final boss of BL1) will laugh, and then spawn. He will be the 'true' raid boss, as he will drop loot and crystals/tokens (hopefully akin to Pyro Pete).
Those are all the ideas I have for a DLC idea now, but I hope you guys really enjoyed reading it. As I stated earlier in this thread, I know there is a good chance (like 99.999%) this will never be released as a DLC, or if it is even possible, but they are just ideas I'd really like to see as one. Feel free to let me know what you think!
