Igor as... The Chemist. A major work-in-progress with much of the work shown as a proof of concept and explaining the general idea I'm trying to work towards.
TL;DR Basic Concept
A mad scientist support-type class with a grab-bag of abilities that focus primarily on my two favourite elemental damage types: Corrosion and Slag. I love Corrosive damage and Slag damage, and absolutely adore playing the Support / Team-Swiss-Army-Knife role.
Personality
Imagine taking the worst aspects of Doctor Insano, Emmett Brown, and Cave Johnson, dropping them into a blender and leaving it to frappé for an hour, and you essentially get the mental landscape of Igor the Chemist. In his mind, the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake is the highest moral code one can adhere to, and lesser 'laws' and 'morals' only serve to get in the way. Science is the supreme good, and using it for personal profit and vendettas is heinous... unless the outcome is either hilarious, awesome, or (preferably) both.
A former Atlas scientist assigned to the 'Anomalous Materials' division, his funding was cut when the company went belly-up, and now Igor has to fund his morally-questionable experiments himself, by any means necessary. Conveniently enough though, there happens to be a planet not far from him, abundant in strange resources like Eridium, and not enormously big on enforcing scientific morals....
Melee Weapon
Class Mod
Several vials of colored fluids in a leather pouch, either worn on the hip (like Maya's 'spellbook') or else in the front pocket of Igor's labcoat like a pocket-protector.
Active Ability - Applied Chemistry
Igor drops a chemical sprayer on the ground at his feet, which then immediately begins spraying a custom chemical cocktail in a radius around it. Weak enemies caught in this radius are significantly slowed or rooted outright, while elites and bosses are less affected. Special abilities, firing rate, and grenade throwing are otherwise unaffected.
Like Deathtrap and the Sabre Turret, the sprayer has its own 'health' and can be destroyed before its duration expires. Additionally, the sprayer can be deactivated early to recoup some of the ability's cooldown.
Skill Trees
Solvents
This tree is primarily focused on Defensive skills, and abilities that either benefit from, or give bonuses to Corrosive damage.
Neutralizing Agent
Tier Three
One Rank
Effect: You and Allies within Applied Chemistry's radius cannot be Slagged or Corroded. Moving into Applied Chemistry's radius while Slagged or Corroded immediately removes the effect(s). (Damage from Slag and Corrosive weapons still applies normally.)
Catalysts
The second tree is primarily utility and support skills, including skills that augment and improve Applied Chemistry.
Run the Numbers
Tier One
Five Ranks
Effect: Your Fire Rate and Reload Speed increase by +x% while Applied Chemistry is active.
Domino Effect
Tier Two
Five Ranks
Effect: Kill Skill - Killing an opponent while Applied Chemistry is active extends the duration of Applied Chemistry by x. This ability cannot trigger more than once every 3 seconds.
Volatile Reaction
Tier Two
Five Ranks
Effect: Corroding an enemy temporarily increases the bonus damage caused by Slagging an opponent by x%. Slagging an opponent temporarily increases your chances of Corroding an enemy by x%. (This effect does not multiply itself.)
Split the Difference
Tier Three
One Rank
Effect: Melee Augmentation - Hitting a target with your melee attack while Burning, Electrocuted, Corroded, or Slagged immediately ends the effect on you, and spreads the same status effect to your target.
"How can I study contagions if I don't share them with you?!"
Chaos Theory
Tier Six
One Rank
Effect: - Elemental Effects (Burning, Electrocution, Corrosion or Slag) applied to one enemy with Applied Chemistry's radius immediately applies to all enemies within the radius. This effect cannot trigger more than once every five seconds.
Reactants
The third tree is primarily offensive, and serves to either benefit from, or help boost Slag damage.
Chain Reaction
Tier One
Five Ranks
Effect: Inflicting an elemental status effect (Burning, Corrosion, Electrocution, or Slagging) increases your elemental damage for a brief period of time. Slag bonus damage gains twice the effect.
Vulcanized
Tier One
Five Ranks
Effect: Increases Elemental Resistance and Shield capacity by x% per level. This ability adds additional Corrosive and Slag resistance.
Cascade Failure
???
Catalytic Cracking
Tier Two
Five Ranks
Effect: You gain +x% to Gun Damage whenever an opponent is Slagged. (This bonus stacks with existing Slag benefits, and applies to all targets, not just the Slagged target(s))
Panacea
Tier Two
Five Ranks
Effect: x% of additional damage caused by Slag is returned to you as health.
Combustible Lemons
???
