New charachter class the thai fighter

Borderlands character idea

In borderlands 2 were seeing melee characters dominate in terms of actual character count, with zero krieg and the mechromancers robot being melee based, plus we can all agree their fun to play with and their actually effective,

I have an idea for a new character that brings back what we love from borderlands 1 whilst also taking things forward in terms of rpg character development.

The characters name is the thai fighter and his action skill consists of two things straight punches and his clinch. Im terrible at art so i thought i d describe his look rather than make a stick figure and scan it through :D, imagine opened suit shirt for a top, Muay thai shorts on the bottom, wraps and shin guards with spikes in them to keep the pandoran fashion going , It may not seem that exciting or effective but heres how he would play:

He would have two character customisation slots one for the fists and one for the knees, the items themselves could be wraps for the hands and knee pads or in pandoran fashion; knee blades :D,

if your fighting a human character who has a shield on, you could equip lighting wraps to take away the shield and rush in for a clinch (which would act as a command grab for the game) in the clinch you have 2 advantages, 1 ; other enemies bullets hit the enemy depending on which way your facing 2 you can equip a second element to your knees to further exploit that characters element weakness.

Fighting a psycho with no shield? Slag on the wrists, fire of the knees!

Fighting a robot loader with a shield, lighting on the fists acid on the knees!

To differentiate him from characters like zero his major skill focus on the melee tree would be on movement speed, melee damage and health regeneration, effectively making him the team tank,

His melee skill tree would also open up new melee moves depending on how far away you are from your opponent (these moves only work with the R3 button), if more than 3 meters away; superman punch to gain ground, if in close push kick to gain distance. The punches would be used by the shoulder button during the action skill (L1 R1) i never used bricks hard punch so we can safely assume that both punches would be fast to keep his play style speedy smooth and effective, holding the shoulder buttons together would initiate a clinch, turning L1 and R1 into knees. And for a final point in the skill tree you sacrifice time during the action skill to turn your punches ranged (just like ashuras wrath)

For a great fight for your life skill a bit of MMA could be incorporated with your movement speed being increased you tackle the first enemy you come into contact with and if you can get the kill before your time is up you get a second wind :D

Charachter customization options could change the colour of the shirt and shorts whearas the class mods look different with some of the wraps being elementally charged and others having glass shards in them much like the movie the kickboxer :D

Ive only really given thought to the melee skill tree but not much to the other trees so really i haven't given a whole lot of thought to this character but i thought it would be interesting to play, and would not only make borderlands 3 a more fun game but it would add to the experience with additional character mods and the clinch functionality,


Ive put some rough ideas in the bottom for you guys to play around with as well,

Name tai fighter,
Action skill fists of fury ( punches and clinch)
Action skill time limit 45 seconds ( skills in certain trees give aditional time with every kill)
Cooldown 30 seconds ( skils in certain trees decrease cooldown time)
Left Skill tree guns (smg reload speed rate of fire etc)
Middle hybrid/team( melee damage and gun damage, team skill?)
Right skill tree melee ( melee damage, push kick, clinch,

2 character mod slots one for fists one for knees,

Interchangeable elements for hands and knees to exploit elemental weakness

"Element ball" for ranged at the end of melee skill tree

"Full release" for increased stats at the end of the middle skill tree

Skill majors: movement speed regeneration, melee damage,
