I missed out on Ultimate Loot Chest Edition, so I built an Even Ultimatyer Edition :)

Two things happened prior to me getting BL2: I heard about the Ultimate Loot Chest, and decided to get it. Of course it had sold out months ago. I also noticed that some of my favourite games are now just a failing memory, yet I still have mementos from countries where in some cases I've spend less time there than in some games. BL2 seemed likely to be a favourite game, so what the hell, I didn't have much free time but I decided to spare a few hours beforehand quickly throwing together a souvenir box, maps, etc. It'll make playing the game more fun, and afterwards, it'll be a fun memento of my time in Pandora.

The Pandora Explorer Edition
(AKA Pandora's Box set. I haven't decided :) )

This will look a lot better soon. Right now it's all new and shiny, but because everything is real paint over real metal and nuts and bolts, etc. the more it kicks around, the more the paint will chip, the metal will dent and scratch, and it'll genuinely have that beat-to-hell look of something from Pandora. :-)

Whatta mess...
Since the idea is mementos of a place we've been to, nothing in this edition indicates a game or software or stuff like that. It's just a box of crap and tacky tourist tat and event flyers I bought back from Pandora. (The exception is the "Borderlands" steelbook, in that it has "Borderlands" written on it, and contains the DVDs for all the games and DLC.)
I bought BL2 for $25 on sale at Amazon, and Loot Chest stuff I liked (like the cloth map and field guide) cheap on ebay. So that left most of the budget to spend on other things, like... hardware and laser cutting!
(It'd be nicer if more of the money could have gone to Gearbox, but they weren't selling :( )

Eridium crystals.
I have experimented with ingesting these crystals (seriously), and they genuinely do give you crazy amounts of energy! They also do seem kind of addictive. But maybe best of all; they taste exactly like rock candy.

Because the box is metal, I use it as a magnetic pin-board. For example I find the in-game inventory is not all that good at showing at a glance what I have available in a particular set of elements, so here I've got a chart of which elemental gear I have (and whether it's with me or Roland's vault.)

I have a little Zink bluetooth sticker-photo printer, so I've been filling the Travel Journal with photos of the journey through Pandora. When there is a breathtaking vista, sometimes I'll pause and keep it for posterity :) I also have level maps and other stuff in there.

Detritus at the bottom of the box. The "2" was originally for the steelcase, but it made more sense to me to just have the more inclusive "Borderlands" on there. There's a token from one of Marcus' vending machines, a vault hunter necklace, Hyperion pen, etc. If you're wondering why there isn't a Bobblehead here, they just didn't appeal to me. Thematically (tourist tat) it's great, but it's bulky and it's just not the sort of thing I bring home when I travel, so I didn't get one.

There are a lot more little details, but this gives the gist. I didn't have a lot of time, so everything had to come together first try, any mistakes stay - no time for do-overs. Given those restrictions, I was pretty happy with how it turned out!

Anyway, hope you liked it!
I'm in the middle of Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty - gotta get back to it... :-)
