I'm mostly here for this one post. I'm doing concept work for Marcie Halloway (yes, after she exploded) as a playable character, mostly for fun, but I need more input to complete her gameplay design. This might involve a lot of rambling, so yeah.
Marcie Halloway is "The Princess", and her gameplay is themed around riches, elitism, and narcissism, and being a foil to Gaige.
Backstory is, after they squeezed what was left of her into a bucket, Dad Halloway (having more money than God) wasn't going to have any of her widdle girl being dead, and mailed the bucket of Marcie to the best scientists he could find to rebuild and enhance her via gene therapy to turn her into a super human (Who has New-U Insurance). So she's stronger, faster, tougher, and has more IQ (Intelligence, after all, isn't the same as wisdom, though she's getting there in filling in the gap.)
She also now tans evenly.
Anyways, cutting to the chase, the newer, better Marcie wakes up, notices her Dad posting a massive bounty on her arch-nemesis and decides she won't settle for her vengeance being some random guys dragging Gaige back: She'll go to Pandora and find her herself to she can put a headlock around her skinny neck.
I'm mostly designing her Action Skill now. Her ability is to use a cell phone (animation) to mail order a "care package" onto the battlefield, which will Digistruct in (so it can work indoors). It can be targeted on an grounded enemy so that it can Digistruct on it, and telefrag the target for massive damage (A surviving target will be pushed outside).
(And it won't be called something starting with "D". No, we're not calling it "Deliverance".)
That's just the delivery. It's the package afterwards I'm trying to work out. I don't know what the "vanilla" package is. Two of her three skill trees would be built around customizing the care package towards offense or support.
The offensive tree would include things like longer active duration on the field, a larger explosion/shockwave/whatever on arrival, and pouring out elemental effects to enemies immediately around it. The support tree would include things like faster cool down, regeneration... Other tentative stuff (Not a shield, Axton already has that).
So like, I say, the minor dilemma is what the original care package does. The initial delivery is already an attack, so I doubt we need a second one... Dropping ammo might be a bit pointless, given how prevalent the stuff is.
(The third tree would be towards upgrading Marcie herself, since she's Supah Hooman. Max Health, Reload and Weapon Swap, Melee Override Skill, Movement speed...)
I'm also trying to balance the cool down and active time for the skill. In general, the staying time of the package after arrival should be short, like Phaselock or Deception. However, adding a short cool down means the skill could be over abused, just constantly dropping what's essentially a persisting bomb blast over and over. Too long, however, and it won't balance with such a short activation period.
So looking at somewhere between 13 to 42 seconds for cool down, and the active time being appropriately proportional to it.
After that, filling out her three skill trees is mostly a matter of time, I suppose. Time and actual effort.
So I'm throwing my current ideas out there, if anyone has any input.
Other notes:
-Her Skills will be named mostly after Teen movies and TV series, for example: "10 Things I Hate", "Gleeful", "Carried", "Greased", "High Shoot Musical", "Kicking It", "Dead Poetry", "Without a Cause", and whatever else one fits in later.
-Jack won't like her. He doesn't like anyone who is theoretically capable of being as rich as him.
-She has a knee length skirt and low heel boots. Practically heeled, but nonetheless, the only character to wear them.
-She's a closeted lesbian in extreme denial, with a crush on Gaige, and being in denial, resorts to bullying to make Gaige pay attention to her. Activate those Goggles. Or don't.
