First of all, I'm a big fan of the Borderlands games. (Like I suppose everyone on these forums is.) One of the biggest disappointments of BL2 for me was the discontinuation of the Proximity Mine grenade mod. I loved those things. Channeling that disappointment, (and with a tiny bit of inspiration from TF2's Engineer.) I dreamed up the class of the Trapper; which basically means I came up with a really cool action skill that could be upgraded through talents to do all kinds of awesome things.
The skill is simple and would rely on a charge system refilled by excess ammo, rather than a cooldown; He throws out a Sticky Proximity Mine with a default 3 second arm time. Easy.
The part that makes me want to see this class in the game is how his talent tree would play out. I imagine his tree to have a lot of one-point skills to alter how the mines behave - changing them into trip-wire explosives, make them air-burst (Either by proximity or manual detonation by pressing the action skill button again.) make them elemental, give them longbow, mimic your current grenade mod on detonation (Last tier talent. Imagine copying the Bonus Package.) or change them into mini-turrets with limited damage, ammo and range that explode on emptying. How awesome would it be to longbow-sticky a mini turret to a Midget's face, so it shoots all his buddies and then pops his head off? (Ridiculously awesome.)
Other, simple talents would reduce the arm time for the Mines, (and fuse time for grenades.) Increase all explosive radii, (Radius plural. Critical hit for knowledge!) increase the charge capacity of your action skill, add shrapnel bleed damage or concussion slowing/stunning to mine/grenade explosions, give you bonus movement speed based on how close you are to an armed mine/grenade... Basic gun damage, health/shield recharging and shotgun specialization via accuracy and pellet count bonuses. No one has shotgun specialization yet.
So the basic playstyle of the Trapper would be to entrap enemies in minefields or expose them from cover so you can blast them - eventually turning into tons of computer-lagging explosions.
The character himself I imagined to be like Sir Hammerlock gone "The Most Dangerous Game" on all our asses, but has enough human trophies to where he's moved on to vault hunting and explosives. Of course, with the potential amount of explosions this character can make, they make Tiny Tina look like a little girl.
Wait a minute...
