On Pandora as a planet

So I'm currently trying to piece together some data for a story idea and ran head-first into a metaphorical wall so to speak.

I know there are at least two official borderlands books out in circulation (should be picking them up soon to see if they have any of the information I'm looking for) but outside those and the BL Wiki are there any other good sources of info on the Borderlands series that I could explore?

Namely things like:

Size of Pandora (planet dimensions/weight compared to earth, percentage of the surface in land/water, oceans depths, climate... ect.) and it's location compared to the rest of the colonized galaxy (It certainly feels like a backwater location so I'd assume it's not really close to major population centers).

Rough population estimates prior to BL1 and BL2 (I could probably do one if I had a general size of the planet but if there is an official number I'd prefer to use that)

Any other sources for getting a look at more Pandoran wildlife, particularly things that haven't appeared yet in games (I recall seeing a picture during one of the developer talks with a bunch of critters we haven't seen yet but haven't been able to find it anywhere else.)

Also the wiki lists Pandora as having a 10 year orbital period and a 7 year winter/3 year summer. This doesn't feel right so does anyone know if Gearbox has officially stated these durations?

I ask because most of Pandora's wildlife is suppose to go into hibernation over the winter (7 years) and become active during the summer (3 years) yet we have large amounts of wildlife active during both BL1 and BL2 (5 years apart). All I can think of for a reason is that humans are providing a source of food that allows the native wild-life to ignore their natural hibernation period and in that case which game takes place during the winter? Or do they both? I'm assuming BL2 due to the larger amounts of snow/ice landscapes but the game could just be taking place farther north than BL1.

Time-line stuff is less important as the BL wiki does have enough there for me to get the gist of how life on Pandora has gone up through BL2 (Atlas comes for the vault, settles planet, wildlife wakes up and eats settlers. Atlas leaves when they can't find any hard evidence and Dahl moves in, Dahl finds evidence of the vault, Dahl bails as Atlas returns, BL1 starts.)

So yeah... sorry bout the wall of text but if anyone can answer some of these questions for me it would be a great help!
