Name the two coolest things you can think of. Ok, now Im here to tell you that youre automatically wrong. The two coolest things ever are high powered Guns, and Dinosaurs. Period. Explosions were a close 2nd. And thanks to some light funding from the Dahl corporation, Tannis is now opening her own series of vending machines, but its the help of Crazy Earl that makes it a reality. Its the combination of Tannis hobbies of employing the Vault Hunters while studying the Eridians, and Earls obsession with Eridium Bars that fuel this product.
Imagine a world where everyone could power up their guns and be able to take down multiple Badasses with familiar weapons. Thats the world I one day want to live in, and with the Levelociraptor Machine, that dream can become a reality. For the low low price of a lot of Eridium Bars, you can take that little P.O.S. gun, and make it a Badass Tool Of Destruction- or B.A.T.O.D. for short.
Ok,ok heres the real Idea. There could be a few hard to find machines scattered around Pandora, that allow you to trade Eridium bars, for item levels. And by hard to find, I mean none in Sanctuary. I think a few good places for them are in Bloodshot Ramparts, Thousand Cuts, Heroes Pass, Opportunity, The Beatdown, and Wurmwater. Basically, all places riddled with enemies that would make the machine a hassle to get to, but also areas that make you realize just how weak your guns are.
Q and A time!!!!
The Leveloci-what?
The Levelociraptor Machine. The combination of the word Level and totally B.A. Dinosaur, the Velociraptor. Imagine a cat, blended with a toaster pastry. Now imagine that PastryCat being eaten by a Velociraptor, then imagine that Velociraptor regurgitating that PastryCat, but now the PastryCat has steel biceps. Pretty awesome right?
What the hell does it do?
Say for instance you have a level 21 gun, but youre level 32 and its too weak to kill anything anymore. For the price of 11 Eridium Bars, you can level it up to your current level. This machine is basically Viagra for guns.
But oh noes, Itll make the game too easy! Im a Badass, and I demand a challenge!
Dont worry- I thought of that too you angry BAMF.
You can only level up a gun to your level or lower, no level 20 characters making level 50 items for later. You can only upgrade an item 3 times, so make it count. You cant level up Legendary(Orange) or Seraph(Pink). E-Tech (Fuchsia) weapons can only be upgraded once, what more do you want? its frigging E-Tech man, theyre already upgraded. But once an item gets Leveled up, if you trade them, or drop them and another player picks them up- they revert back to the stats they had before the machine upgraded them and lose all history of used upgrade slots. If someone else wants an upgraded gun, theyve gotta work for it too, no freebies.
What EXACTLY does it do?
When you put an item into the machine, you choose what level you want to bring it to, based on your level. As stated above, you have to choose from your level or lower. You can only upgrade Guns, Grenades, and Shields- NO RELICS OR CLASS MODS. I know for a fact that if I could put Relics in there, Id instantly try to upgrade Moxxis Endowment* and that would make the game kind of unfair. But when it upgrades the gun, it does it by random- as if it were being generated from a rare level chest, or dropped from a Badass enemy at that level.
The Levelociraptor may seem like its hard to deal with, and thats because it is. I in no way want this machine to be a pleasure to use, because the guns and items you upgrade are the pleasure here.
OMFG dude, thats a wall of text TL;DR. Im not illiterate!
Yeah, okay- keep telling yourself that. Basically, you get to level up your items, that way you dont always have to toss out that awesome gun, shield or grenade youve been using, just because you leveled up too many times. As long as its not Legendary or Seraph, and you have the Eridium to pay the difference- you can upgrade it. The cost depends on how many levels youre upgrading it, 1 Level= 1 Bar
I came up with the Idea of this machine one night after playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies and using the Pack-a-Punch Machine to upgrade my guns 2 or 3 times. I figured that just like in Zombies, if the enemies are leveling up, why arent my guns doing it too? Its great for those of us without a steady internet connection, who cant get Golden Keys. And sometimes, after having one item for so long, it builds up sentimental value. Or in many players case, If Im gonna sit here and farm a boss for 3 hours, just for one goddamn gun, I want to be able to use one of the damned guns the thing drops at least. Screw you Doc Mercy, screw you and your level 40 Non-Elemental Infinity... And plus Tannis is awesome, and on top of that all of the vending machines are a total sausage-fest.
