Just to give a little backstory to where this is coming from, I found it very strange that we were giving Crazy Earl Eridium. I was very sure that there was going to be some kind of explanation for it once we have bought out his shop, but that didn't happen. It really bothered me because I saw this as a missed opportunity for something to happen. The following is what I think could have happened:
Crazy Earl feeling quite distraught about Skrappy, talks to Dr. Zed if there's any way to bring him back. Dr. Zed, after some questionable experiments, referring to his brother Dr. Ned's research (Who was totally not him in disguise), and consultation with Tannis, comes to the conclusion that Eridium, and a lot of it, would be the way to do it.
So Crazy Earl goes out and finds Skrappy's dead body, which is almost all gone after 5 years but that's okay because Dr. Zed has many "spare parts". The day finally comes to see if Eridium really can bring the dead back to life, and it works, but not as planned. Skrappy comes back to life with no recollection of his past life and only wants to kill and destroy stuff.
Also, as a side effect of the massive amounts of Eridium used on him, Skrappy begins to greatly increase in size and mass. To the point he starts to pull Sanctuary back down to Pandora! Lilith is able to teleport him away before he gets too big, but now Skrappy is running around causing mayhem on Pandora and that's not all!
Skrappy begins learning the full extent of the Eridium's side effects. Skrappy notices that anywhere he goes, dead skags begin coming back to life and anyone who takes up arms against Skrappy is swiftly dealt with by his army of the living dead. He also notices that he can command them to do whatever he wishes and they follow him wherever he goes.
Skrappy is moving with haste and if action isn't taken quickly, soon all of Pandora could be overrun by Skrappy's undead army! It's now your job to find him and take him out, once and for all. And because he's a skag he ate tonnes of loot and stuff and will probably cough it all up upon death.
Warning S&S fanboy spiel incoming.
Being a S&S fan and feeling like Bandit falls very short as a substitute, I was also thinking that on approach towards the final battle with Skrappy, the player could be led through an abandoned S&S Munitions factory. This gives the player the chance to not only run into S&S weaponry, but they could get a proper answer as to why S&S is gone too (Bandit running them out of business seems like a really cheap answer and another missed opportunity). Another other reason why I think S&S can get tied to this is because they are the most logical manufacturer to tie to this. That's because if you're facing an army of the undead then large magazines are your best friend.
So, yeah that's about it. Thanks for reading and please post any thoughts you have about this.
