This is my Idea for a class named the Waraider. His ability would be to throw knives and other projectiles named "Bullseye!" (Hammers, Stakes, Tomahawks etc.). The cooldown of his action is 7 seconds and dependent on the tree they do different things. Feel free to add on your own ideas for skills!
The "Knife through Butter" tree would allow skills like "Just Passing Through.." That allow the projectiles to pass through an enemy per level and stack damage each pass (Up to 5 at max). "Buttered Toast!" would add a 70% chance for Bullseye to add Flame damage or 50% chance of Slag. "(Shaw)Shank" is a melee override that turns your melee into a stab with the same properties as a Bullseye throw, it would also bear a quote on the skill "There's not a day goes by I don't feel regret. Not because I'm in here, or because you think I should..."
The "Bloody Scalpel" tree would give the projectiles a healing factor with "Venipuncture" That continually gives health to the ally thats the closest to the stabbed enemy. Another skill "Acupuncture" would make the knife able to stab allies, adding a random buff (Free Element, Gun Damage, Accuracy, or Health regen.)
The "Kn(EYE)fe" tree would have bonuses for storing up time on the knife with the skill "Wait For it..." each 7 seconds adds another knife to the throw, Up to 5 knives at max for a total of 6 on a fully charged throw. Another skill, "It's a Bird, It's a Plane!" Makes the knives fly in a straight line, eliminating a throwing arc. As you might have seen, a few of the skill are references. Try to name the (HINT INCOMING) movie. tv shows and video games.
But enough for skills, time for a backstory.
Simon grew up a few planets away from Pandora. He had heard about stories of the Vault growing up, as a kid he would play "Vault Hunter" with his 3 best friends and even as he grew into his teenage years he thought of himself as a "Jr. Hunter" and began training to be a Vault Hunter. But living on a civilized planet, those dreams began to feel unrealistic. He eventually traded in "The Dream" to live a somewhat meaningful life as a chef, owning and managing a restaurant with his 3 childhood friends.
On a particular night, as they were winding down to close, representatives of the Hyperion Corp. came to speak with him, they suggested making his restaurant into a fast food chain. Sure it would be a quick profit, but the food would lose its meaning. Needless to say he denied them. The next morning as he opened the restaurant doors he saw a trail of red footprints that lead to the door, following them back they lead to the kitchen, where Simon would find his friends- all slaughtered. Not long after the police arrived and arrested Simon. In his court hearing, his lawyer convinced him to plead Insanity for the most gentle sentence he could get. He was charged with their murders and was sentenced to a lifetime in an insane asylum housed within an Orbital Prision. Within the Asylum, he served 3 years as his sanity slowly declined due to the unneeded meds and being surrounded by murderous criminals. In a stroke of luck, he was chosen to be a Dahl "Employed Inmate" on Pandora. As the canon states, the inmates were abandoned, left to rot an become what are now the Bandits of Pandora. A few years went by, and he fell in with a Bandit crew, where he mastered throwing Axes. Life was enough for a few years- sure he wasnt proud of the seemingly endless pillaging and robbery, but he was surviving.
After living as a Bandit in the badlands of Pandora, he finally caught a glimpse of his childhood hereos- Vault Hunters! Except he was on the wrong side of them. He watched and hid as they used their skills to defeat his fellow Bandits. Disappearing into thin air -and exploding back into existence, the primal rage of punching your foes in the face, tactical deployment of a mechanical gunner, a well placed single headshot, leveling their target instantly. These were his Idols! But seeing them came with a cost. Once again, he was surrounded by the corpses of those he once knew. He was alone again.
Alone -but free.
He took his chances out on his own, exploring Pandora and refining his talent until he could hit a bullseye from 70 yards, both with guns and axes. He stood a fighting chance, not only to be a Vault Hunter, but to get his vengeance on Hyperion for taking away his old life.
So now here he is, 5 years after experiencing the Vault Hunters defeat his Bandit Clan he feels ready. Reformed Bandit, slightly insane, and looking for allies. And now that he's finally living "The Dream" Simon the Waraider is ready to take on Handsome Jack, so he hitched a ride on a train to nowhere...
