New idea for 'Massacre Mayhem' DLC. (PvP style)

A lot of people are probably going to think it's stupid, but I was inspired by this idea that literally just popped into my head. This could really increase the longevity of the endgame.

I know Borderlands 2 was created to be quite strictly co-op instead of PvP, probably because there would definitely be balancing issues between classes and the many item prefixes/variants. But please just hear me out on this, because it is still technically PvE, just in a competitive fashion :) It may further developers' view on the philosophy of loot sharing vs every man for himself, which is the very vibe and feel of Pandora they wanted to give us.

The idea is to have a (2-4 players) multiplayer arena set out in one particular area (Southern Shelf, Sawtooth Cauldron, etc.) and have the players try and clear the map out of NPC enemies. All players have to wager an item of gear, and the winner who gets the most mob kills (or scores the most points based on killing methods such as critical hits) takes all the wagered items.

I'm not sure how this would work exactly, but there would need to be good balancing...eg. all players have to start roughly equidistant from where the NPCs are, or perhaps stealing the killing blow can still count ;) Leaderboards could be made for each map.

They could even base this on a new gun loot system, where if you win a wagered gun, then it does bonus damage to all mobs in that specific map. It could have a cool special prefix title. This would vastly increase replayability and give more competitive players something to do other than farming and grinding.

+1 if you like it! Otherwise, thanks for your time :D
